We are a husband and wife team who just love creating images.
If it's not for you our clients we take our own images for the sheer pleasure. So when you are looking to ask why we are doing this it is genuinely because we enjoy what we are doing and want to create photographs.
David's photography started way back during his days as a Military Musician, whilst travelling around he always had his 35mm film camera strapped to him, he had his own black and white darkroom where he spent long hours developing images. His photography study started by reading everything that was available be it book or magazine and learn many good techniques. David was inspired by many class photographers that were part of the Richmond (North Yorks) camera club where he was a member in the 1990s, he watched and tried out different techniques and slowly mastering them.
After shooting many travel and military musician subjects there came the insistence of a very good friend (Joffy, yes you are to blame!) to shoot his wedding, David realised that his future lay in creating unique, natural and artistic images whether for portrait purposes or on wedding days which continue to be a favourite venue for him to showcase his talents.
Ten weddings later and attending formal training during 2008 with Annabel Williams' training school, Expressive Photography became a name David started trading under in the Nottingham area. David continued to study and attended many training sessions and worked with other photographers. In 2010 I joined him personally and professionally offering my own artistic and creative background and years of experience in a customer facing environment. In 2016 we opened up the doors to our small photographic studio in the Derbyshire village of Hilton where we continue our photography journey.
